Abstract
Fe-Al intermetallic compound coating was prepared on 45 steel substrate by flame spraying-induction remelting. The annealing technics was optimized by orthogonal experiment design, as annealing at 750 ℃ for 1.5 h. The wear mechanism of the coating, revealed by abrasive dust analysis and surface observation after wear, was the adhesive wear at the beginning followed by the abrasive particle wear. The microstructure of the annealed Fe-Al intermetallic compound coating was composed of solid solution, strip shaped and massive carbides, oxides and pores, as analyzed by SEM-EDS.
