Analysis on Cracks in Critical Monitor Point Welds of Ship Inner Hull

Cracks and other defects were prone to be found in critical monitor (CM) point welds of inner hull of large size ship, the types and causes of crack defects were analyzed. The results showed that not only hot cracks but also cold cracks were found in CM welds of inner hull. On the basis of the root causes of cracks in ship construction process, the dedicated quality control and nondestructive testing methods were put forward.
