Physical Basis of Nondestructive Evaluation on Composition in Cemented Carbides WC-Co

    • The numerical relationship of the specific saturation magnetic moment σγ of γ-phase with the wolfram solubility WγW and the carbon solubility WγC in γ-phase, and the numerical relationship of the specific saturation magnetic moment σ, the density ρ of WC-Co alloy with the cobalt content WCo or the carbon content WC in the alloy were deduced by means of theoretical analysis and experimental datum calculation based on the magnetism of the alloy was of the γ-phase magnetism origin i.e. the γ-phase magnetism analytics method. The results showed that, the specific saturation magnetic moment σγ of γ-phase could be raised by carbon solute and reduced by wolfram solute respectively. There was no one to one correspondence of the specific saturation magnetic moment σ (or the saturation magnetization MS) and the density ρ with the cobalt content WCo or carbon content WC in WC-Co alloy respectively, except for the direct proportion relationship of σ with WCo in graphite composition region. The composition average value in WC-Co alloy could be decided exactly with both the measured specific saturation magnetic moment σ and the density ρ values of the alloy. The physical meaning of the related magnetic measurands were discussed.
