    Failure Analysis on Surface Pitting and Stripping of Cylindrical Mixer Rolling Ring

    • Through macro inspection, magnetic particle testing, chemical compositions analysis, hardness testing and metallographic examination, the surface pitting and stripping reasons of a cylindrical mixer rolling ring were analyzed. The results show that original microstructure of the rolling ring was too coarse and Widmanstatten formed in the subsequent heat treatment process, which reduced the mechanical properties of the material and resulted in the pitting and stripping failure in service process of the rolling ring.
