    FAILURE ANALYSIS OF 40Mn18Cr4V STEEL BOLT

    • The bolt was ruptured during assembly. The fracture analysis of bolt was carried out by means of microstructure examination and SEM observation. The results showed that,the non-homogeneous distribution of string inclusions and stresses caused axial cracks,which gradually extended till fracture at stress concentration of crack tip under prefastening force and hot expansion action.
