An investigation was made to study cracking of bearing ferrule. Through metallographic examination,SEM fractography,element compound analysis and hardness testing,it was concluded that concentration of contact stress and under the condition of circulate stress field,resulted in fatigue cracking in the surface of the bearing ferrule.
