Reasons Analysis on Rusting of 2Cr13 Stainless Steel Axial Flow Compressor Blades

    • Aiming at multiple axial flow compressor blades occurring rusting phenomenon upon delivery, material detection methods such as macro examination, metallographic examination, hardness test and scanning electronic microscope and energy spectrum analysis were used to analyze the rusting reasons of the blades. The results show the blades rusting was because there were longitudinal through and through pure iron inclusion defect in the blades, and the inclusions reduced in galvanic corrosion in wet or corrosive environment. The pure iron inclusion defect produced in smelting process, and it was difficult to be detected by non-destructive testing method. However, it could be found out in time by macroscopic corrosion examination method with hydrochloric acid and ferric chloride aqueous solution to avoid greater losses.
