Analysis and Preventing of Hydrogen-induced Fracture of Auto Parts

    • Mechanism, fracture morphologies, showing form, influence factors, preventive measures and testing method of hydrogen embrittlement were introduced. Some distinguishing bases for hydrogen-induced embrittlement fracture were put forward after analysis and research on the typical cases occurring in the auto parts processing. These bases included brittle fracture, intergranular fracture, micro-cavities, secondary cracks and hair thread pattern. The importance of timely and effective dehydrogenizing processing for high-strength parts was emphasized according to the formation mechanism and the affecting factors of hydrogen embrittlement.
