Cracking Analysis on Anchorage for Prestressing Tendons

    • An anchorage for prestressing tendon was broken in the process of installation in a bridge construction. Based on macroscopic inspection, chemical composition analysis, fracture analysis, metallographic examination and so on, the cracking reason was analyzed. The results showed that the brittle fracture occurred in the anchorage for prestressing tendon rebar was mainly caused by the presence of metallurgical defects and inadequate heat treatment. The corresponding preventive measures were also taken out.
