Research on the Machining Dimension Factors of V-notch Impact Samples by Using FEM

    • By comparing the machining requirements of GB/T 229-2007 and ASTM E23-2012c(2014) to the V-notch impact samples, the effects of sample dimensional tolerances on stress of the V-notch were studied by using FEM, and the effective weight of sample dimensional tolerances on the notch sensitivity were evaluated by the stress of V-notch. The results show that the effective weights of ligament length and angle of the notch were the biggest, the effective weights of sample width and height were the second, and the effective weight of sample length was the smallest. Comparing to GB/T 229-2007, the machining dimensional tolerance requirement of ASTM E23-2012c(2014) to V-notch impact samples was more reasonable.
