    Failure Analysis of Dehydro-compressor Bushing

    • During the disassembling overhaul to dehydro-compressor,there were large areas peeling metal in its journal bearing linings. The major failure of the type bearing analyzed by modern analytical techniques such as material properties test,SEM,metallography,hydro-test and theoretical calculations is hydrogen induced damage. Hydrogen blisters and it induced cracks decrease the bonding strength and fatigue strength of the babbitt metal at the mean time,which then induce fatigue failure. Local overheat and misalignment has also accelerating effect on its failure.
