Fracture Analysis of Connecting Rod Bolts of Diesel Engine for Internal Combustion Locomotive

    • Two connecting rod bolts of diesel engine fractured when the internal combustion locomotive operated for one month after maintenance and recombinant. The fracture reason was analyzed by means of chemical composition analysis, hardness testing, fracture analysis, metallographic examination and so on. The results showed that both bolts characterized in fatigue fracture, one of which gave the priority over another, and the fracture might be due to the unreasonable bolt prefixing.
