Failure Analysis and Prevention of Non-API Tubing and Casing in Tarim Oil Field

Statistic analysis of the failure cases of non-API tubing and casing in Tarim oil field was done and normal failure form and cause were summarized, and some prevention measures were put forward. The results show that the cause of tubing joint leakage was its bad gas seal capability being lower than the actual use condition that results in the casing pressure increase, the casing collapse was due to casing worn and stratum creep, and the casing fracture and crack was not only related to casing material quality, but also related to casing worn. Tubing and casing should be prevented from failure by establishing some tubing and casing technical specification for buy.
