FRACTURE ANALYSIS OF THE TITANIUM ALLOY BOLT WITH HIGH STRENGTH

    • Failure occured when the high strength titanium alloy bolt of M4×30 mm being tightened during assembly. The failure was analyzed by means of metallographic testing,SEM,SIMS,and bolt stress analysis, and the results showed that was a low stress brittle fracture. The fracture mechanism was hydrogen induced delay fracture due to the high content of hydrogen in the bar material.
