Reasons Analysis on Cracks and Swap Block Defects of Channel Steel

The cause of cracks and swap block defects in one leg of channel steel intermediate billet was analyzed by macro structure examination, metallographic examination, SEM observation and EDS analysis. The results show that the cracks and swap block defects of the intermediate billet are mainly caused by the serious centre cracks and corner cracks in the channel steel billet, the high residual Cu content and the enrichment of Cu on surface of the billet.
