MICROSTRUCTURE OBSERVATION OF ALIGNED CARBON NANOTUBES AND SUGGESTION OF THEIR GROWTH MECHANISM

    • Aligned carbon nanotubes were prepared by CVD methods with Fe film as catalyst sputtered on SiO2 substrate. The catalysts on top and in middle of carbon nanotubes, the structure of carbon nanotubes, especially in bamboo-shape structure were observed by SEM, TEM and HRTEM. A growth mechanism based on liquid growth model was suggested.
