    FAILURE ANALYSIS OF THE PISTON PIN

    • A engine was destroyed resulting from failure of the piston pin. The failure reason of piston pin have been studied by the observation of the morphology,microstructure examination,nondestructive testing,chemical composition analysis,hardness testing and finite element simulation. The results showed that the piston pin was failed by fatigue fracture,which was caused by grinding cracks.
