Reason Analysis on Brittle Fracture of Hollow Drill Rod of 55SiMnMo Steel
The brittle fracture reason of hollow drill rod of 55SiMnMo steel in service was analyzed by means of chemical composition analysis, metallographic examination and electron probe analysis. The results showed that the fracture of the rod was caused by the uneven microstructure and existence of bright white-colored blocky phase of silicon rich ferrite.
