    Analysis on Cracking Reason of Flange Forgings of 16MnⅢ Steel during Welding

    • Cracking occurred in a flange forging of 16MnⅢ steel during butt welding process with steel pipe. By means of macroscopic fracture observation, metallographic examination, chemical composition analysis, mechanical property testing, SEM analysis and so on, the cracking reason was analyzed. The results showed that the incorrect welding technology and without preheating before welding were the reasons of cracking.
