Reason Analysis on Unqualified Mechanical Property of 60Si2Mn Spring Steel

By means of macro and micro fracture analysis, metallographic examination, chemical compositions analysis and so on, the reason of unqualified mechanical property of 60Si2Mn spring steel was investigated. The results showed that the main reasons were due to hydrogen in material was not fully spreaded out, and there was segregation defects in material, hydrogen assembled in the segregation defects and produced hydrogen induced cracking.
