    THE INTERFACE MIGRATION IN Co-Zn DIFFUSION COUPLES

    • Co-Zn diffusion couples with curing interfaces were made by riveting the Zn rod into the Co base. With the help of optical microscope (OM),the interface characteristic was observed,besides the thickness of the diffusion zone was measured. It was shown that a diffusion-solution layer was formed after the heat treatment. The thickness of the diffusion layer is larger under the condition of the higher temperature and longer time. The diffusion-solution layer at the original Co/Zn interface migrated faster towards Zn and the obvious kirkendall effect was observed during sintering.
