    Application of Non Contact Video Gauge on Tensile Test

    • By utilizing non contact video gauge of IMETRUM corporation at MTS810 material testing system, results comparison about static tensile testing of Q235 steel was performed. Stress versus strain curves utilizing two different instruments of non contact video gauge and contact extensometer nearly coincide. In elastic deformation and yield stage two curves somewhat diverge. In elastic deformation stage relationship of stress versus strain by means of video gauge was more curved than by means of contact extensometer. It shows that measurement precision of video gauge is slightly lower than that of contact extensometer of material testing system. In summary, IMETRUM video gauge can be applied on static tensile test of metallic material.
