    Status and Development Trend of Gear Grinding Burn Detection Technology

    • The detection methods and their application characteristics of gear grinding burn were summarized, including observing color method, acid etching method, surface micro-hardness testing method, residual stress detecting method, metallographic examination method and magnetoelastic method. By comparing the magnetoelastic method with the other traditional methods, it was found that the traditional methods generally had disadvantages of damaging the work pieces, low detection efficiency and so on, so they could not meet with the fast and efficient modern detection requirements. However, magnetoelastic method with advantages of being efficient, accurate and nondestructive, has broad application prospect in gear grinding burn detection.
