Abstract
The effects of hot isostatic pressing (HIP) process on microstructure and tensile and fatigue properties of ZL111-T6 cast aluminum alloy compressor wheels were studied by comparison testing. The results show that HIP process could eliminate the shrinkage porosity defects obviously in the microstructure of ZL111-T6 cast aluminum alloy wheels. After HIP process, the tensile strength, yield strength and percentage elongation of ZL111-T6 cast aluminum alloy wheels were improved slightly, and the data dispersion of them was reduced greatly which would enhance the quality stability of the cast products. The fatigue life of ZL111-T6 cast aluminum alloy wheels with HIP process was enhanced over one time compared with those without HIP process.
