Abstract
Through adding 5 % to 30 % of the glass fiber to phenolic resin( phenolic moulding powder) and compacting the mixture to a desired shape under certain pressure and temperature, the samples were prepared. Then the experiments of wear-resisting property is proceed. The surface topography of wear test samples are observed by three-dimensional video microscope. The results show that with the increment of glass fiber content, the wear-resisting property of glass fiber reinforced plastics increases and tends to be stable as the glass fiber content is up to 15 %. The compression strength changes little at beginning and decreases fast as the glass fiber content is up to 15%. The micro-analysis show that the fiber and fiber outcrop on wear surface improve the wear-resisting property of glass fiber reinforced plastics greatly. The addition of glass fiber doesnt improve their compression strength evidently.
