EARLY FAILURE ANALYSIS OF THE CRANK IN DIESEL ENGINE

The reason of crankshaft in diesel engine fracture has been analyzed by means of macro fractograph,chemical composition analysis and microstructure examination. The results show that materials and heat treatment process are tally with manufacture′s technical standards and design requirements. The crankshaft was fractured due to producing fatigue crack in operation. According to this result,the improve manufacturing process was proposed and sach acident has never happened till now.
