Analysis on Stress Corrosion Cracking of Metal Bellows Compensator

    • By means of macroscopic examination, fracture analysis, metallographic examination and chemical compositions analysis, the corrosion failure reason of an Cr-Ni austenite stainless steel bellows compensator was investigated. The results show that because the Cr-Ni austenite stainless steel bellows served in the surrounding where chloride ion concentration exceeded the standard requirement, stress corrosion cracking happened to the bellows from outer surface to inner surface under the coactions of machining-induced residual stress, working stress and assembling stress.
