Failure Analysis on Fracture of Discharge Valve Guard of New Hydrogen Compressor

The fracture failure cause of discharge valve guard of new hydrogen compressor was investigated by macro inspection, chemical compositions analysis, fracture analysis, metallographic examination and mechanical properties test in contrast. The results show that H2S corrosion, poor performance of mechanical properties due to metallographic flaws, such as coarse grains, Widmanstatten structure and ferrite net were the main causes of the fracture failure.
