Abstract
Due to the characteristics of high yield strength and low elasticity modulus of high-strength aluminum alloy drill pipe, the effects of conventional tensile test method on the tensile properties were studied. By adjusting the tensile rate and control mode, a more reasonable tensile test method was obtained for high-strength aluminum alloy drill pipe. According to the test results, the plastic elongation strength Rp0.2 is recommended to be considered as the yield strength reference value. The extensometer should be picked down at 2% gauge length to reliably read the yield strength Rp0.2. The plastic performance of the high-strength aluminum alloy drill pipe material is sensitive to tensile rate, which should slow down as far as possible at plastic deformation stage.
