    Determination of Average Particle Size and Distribution of SBL by TEM and Image Analysis

    • Styrene butadiene latex (SBL) was dispersed through ultrasonic and stained by OsO4, and the images of the SBL particles were obtained through transmission electron microscope (TEM). The images were processed with the technique of image analysis, such as shading correction, images edition, particles separation etc. Distribution of SBL particles was showed by the percent of count of particles. The method of determination of average particle size and distribution of SBL was established. The results show that the relative standard deviation of this method is 2.8% and the relative error is 7%, so accuracy and repeatability of this method are both good.
