    Monitoring System for Optical Fiber Smart Structure Based on ARM and GPRS

    • The system of remote data communication based on ARM and GPRS communication was proposed and designed. It was used for monitoring of optical fiber smart structure. The whole system was made up of laser source, optical fiber smart structure, photoelectric detection circuit, remote terminal unit (RTU), GPRS network, Internet and monitoring server center. RTU consists of ARM microprocessor and GPRS wireless communicate module. The data received by RTU was sent to the monitoring center through GPRS network and Internet. The health status of material structure can be known as the data contains the health information of optical fiber smart material structure. That is to say, it realizes the purpose of monitoring the health status of optical fiber intelligence structure. The loading experiments and damage location research were conducted, and the results showed that the monitoring system for optical fiber smart structure based on wireless remote data transmission was completed and it was stable and reliable. It provides a new method for condition monitoring of optical fiber smart structure.
