Reasons for the fracture of Q195 steel wire rod during pulling and drawing

    • A Q195 steel wire rod experienced fracture during pulling and drawing process. The causes of wire rod fracture were analyzed using methods such as macroscopic observation, chemical composition analysis, scanning electron microscopy and energy spectrum analysis, metallographic examination, and production process review. The results show that the reason for the oblique fracture of the hot-rolled wire rod was the inheritance of surface defects on the steel billet. The reason for necking fracture was that the oxide scale on the surface of the wire rod was not completely removed, and the load was too high.
