Characterization of mechanical properties of molybdenum alloy for piercing plug prepared by hot pressing

    • TZC and TZM molybdenum alloys were prepared by adding TiH2 and ZrH2. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloys after sintering and hot pressing were studied. The results show that hot pressing after sintering could effectively improve the density of the alloy, reduce the proportion of inclusions and pores in the alloy, and make the density of the alloy reach 97.3%. The mechanical properties of the two alloys were significantly improved after hot pressing, but the tensile fracture of the sintered and hot-pressed alloys showed brittle fracture characteristics. The service life of two kinds of molybdenum alloy plugs prepared by hot pressing process was more than 80% longer than that of sintered plugs.
