Reasons for cracking of bimetallic layer in centrifugal casting composite machine barrel

    • During the finished product inspection of a high-strength centrifugal casting composite machine barrel, it was found that the bimetallic layer of multiple machine barrels had cracked. The causes of cracking in composite machine barrels were studied using methods such as macrostructure examination, chemical composition analysis, metallographic examination and combined with process analysis. The results show that the bimetallic layer of the composite barrel had loose defects, and the barrel cracked under pressure. The reasons for the occurrence of loose defects in the barrel were insufficient heating temperature during centrifugal casting, short insulation time, and poor quality of borax used.
