Correlation of characterization of hydrogen content in Zirconium alloy by weighing method, chemical method and metallographic method

    • Zirconium alloy tubes and plates were gas hydrogenated with different hydrogen contents. The hydrogen content was characterized by weighing method, chemical test method and metallographic method, and the correlation was studied. The results show that when the hydrogen content was low, the hydrogen content measured by the weighing method fluctuated greatly, while the hydrogen content measured by the chemical method fluctuated relatively small. The hydrogen content measured by the chemical method was lower than the target hydrogen permeation amount, while the hydrogen content measured by the weighing method was close to the target hydrogen permeation amount. When the hydrogen content was high, the fluctuation of the hydrogen content measured by the weighing method was still large, while the fluctuation range of the hydrogen content measured by the test method gradually increased with the increase of the target hydrogen content, and the measurement result of the test method was higher than the target hydrogen content, while the measurement result of the weighing method was close to the target hydrogen content. When the hydrogen content was low, the hydrogen content estimated by the metallographic method had a certain positive correlation with the target hydrogen content. When the hydrogen content was high, the hydride became smaller and denser, which made the hydrogen content estimated by the metallographic method had a large deviation.
