    Cracking reason of stainless steel bellows expansion joint

    • The stainless steel bellows expansion joint of a petrochemical company cracked. The cracking reason was studied by means of macroscopic observation, chemical composition analysis, metallographic examination and energy spectrum analysis. The results showed that the bellows expansion joint was in the environment of chloride aqueous solution for a long time. Under the residual stress generated during the processing of the bellows and the stress generated during the work, the chloride stress corrosion cracking of the stainless steel bellows expansion joint occured.
