  • Combined with standard ASTM E110-2014, the technical source, principle, structure, characteristics, main performance, latest technology and its compliance with standard requirements of various portable Rockwell hardness testers and portable Brinell hardness testers were analyzed. The results show that the portable hardness tester adopts the test method, test force and indenter of Rockwell hardness and Brinell hardness, while the accuracy of the test force and the accuracy of the indentation depth measurement device do not meet the standard requirements. Some portable Brinell hardness testers cannot maintain the test force, so they cannot pass the direct test. Most portable hardness testers can pass the indirect test, and the indication error and indication repeatability can meet the standard requirements. The electric portable hardness tester adopts the method of motor automatic force instead of manual force, which can automatically complete the test. The main performance indicators of the electric portable hardness tester meet the standard requirements, it can pass the direct and indirect inspection and can provide the same accurate, reliable and reasonable hardness test data as the desktop hardness tester, and its performance is not different from the desktop hardness tester.
