Abstract
Based on the analysis of the technical requirements and composition structure of the steel wire rope, the clamping method of the sample and the test parameters, a new method for testing elongation after fracture of steel wire rope was proposed. The test results show that the new test process, special tooling and a large range extensometer were used to test the elongation after fracture, which not only could lock the sample, but also did not damage the sample. The tensile process met the standard requirements of GB/T 228.1-2010. The method filled the testing gap in the laboratory, obtained reliable test data, and met the test requirements of the product use department.
