Common defects in metallographic examination of titanium alloy

    • The defects found in the daily production of titanium alloy parts were classified and summarized, and the typical defects were selected for macroscopic observation, metallographic examination, microhardness test, scanning electron microscopy and energy spectrum analysis and electron probe microanalysis. The results show that the common defects of titanium alloy parts were clear crystals, strain lines, segregation, overheating and overburning and α layer. The causes of different defects were analyzed, which provided a reference for the determination of defect properties in the inspection and testing of titanium alloys.
