Abstract
In order to study the effect of the grinding surface position on the end hardenability of 20CrMnTiH steel, the hardness of 20CrMnTiH steel samples with different grinding surfaces was tested. The microstructure was observed by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope, and the chemical composition was analyzed by infrared carbon-sulfur analyzer and direct reading spectrometer. The results show that the hardness of the peripheral grinding surface of the 20CrMnTiH steel sample was quite different, and the accurate identification of the grinding surface position was very important for the accuracy of the end hardenability test results of the steel. The difference of microstructure was the direct cause of the hardness difference of the sample, and the inhomogeneity of chemical composition was the root cause of the hardness difference.
