Selection of Brinell hardness measuring scale for weld of Inconel 625 nickel-based alloy pipe joint with different welding processes

    • Through the Brinell hardness test, the influence of measuring scale on the indentation morphology and Brinell hardness of the weld of Inconel 625 nickel-based alloy pipe joint with different welding processes was studied. The results showed that under different measuring scale conditions, the edge of Brinell hardness indentation in weld of nickel-based alloy pipe joint was relatively smooth. Under the conditions of HBW 5/750 and HBW 2. 5/187. 5 measuring scales, the shape of Brinell hardness indentation in weld of handle welding and argon arc welding nickel-based alloy pipe joints tended to be round. Under the condition of the same ratio of load to square of diameter of the indenter, the Brinell hardness measured by different measuring scales were basically same. For surfacing nickel-based alloy pipe joint, it was recommended to use HBW 10/300 measuring scale. For handle welding and argon arc welding nickel-based alloy pipe joint, it was recommended to use HBW 5/750 measuring scale.
