A Testing Method for Yield Strength of Gas and Petroleum Pipeline

Abstract
The hydrostatic burst testing equipment of steel pipe designed according to SY/T 5992—2012 is limited to calculating the pressure value in steel pipe, and can not automatically obtain the yield strength and slope of steel pipe. According to the testing method of AS/NZS 2885.5:2012 and with the help of hydrostatic burst testing equipment of steel pipe, the original data collected from the test were drawn into pressure-water inflow curve and stress-strain curve of steel pipe by Excel software and analyzed. The calculation of 1/2 slope yield strength and actual slope of burst point was realized by Excel software, and the quantitative calculation of yield strengths were realized by drawing software. The results show that the yield strengths of steel pipe obtained by the above method were basically consistent with the data obtained from the actual tensile test. This method can expanded the calculation ability of yield strength for the hydrostatic burst testing equipment of steel pipe designed according to SY/T 5992—2012.
