Application of Strain Rate in GB/T 228. 1-2010 and Suggestions for the Next Version of the Standard

    • According to the Method A in GB/T 228.1-2010, the tensile test machine with high industry recognition and the hydraulic parallel pushing fixture with high rigidity were used. And the samples with continuous yield and discontinuous yield were used to verify the rate relative error of rate range 2 of the first strain rate and rate range 2 and 3 of the second strain rate in Method A. The results show that the relative error of rate range 2 of the first strain rate in the gauge length of the continuous yield samples was within ±40%, which slightly exceeded the standard requirement of ±20%. When the rate range 2 of the second strain rate, the relative error of strain rate in the gauge length and the parallel length of the discontinuous yield samples was ±100%, which exceeded the standard requirement of ±20%. When the rate range 3 of the second strain rate, the relative error of strain rate in the parallel length of the discontinuous yield samples was within ±20%, which met the standard requirements. It is suggested that the applicability of the relative error of the strain rate of Method A be verified or make appropriate adjustments when GB/T 228. 1-2010 is revised so that the new standard more suitable for the existing test technology.
