Optimization of Detection Parameters for Crushing Strength and Deformation Amount of Cigarette Breakable Capsules

Abstract
The crushing strength and deformation amount of cigarette breakable capsules were tested by universal material testing machine, and the key parameters, such as sample size, equilibration time, pre-pressure, compression rate and the bore diameter of sample table,were compared and studied by statistical methods. The results show that the bore diameter of sample table had a great influence on test results of crushing strength and deformation amount, while the pre-pressure and compression rate had little influence on test results. The sample size mainly affected the precision of test results. The deformation amount was affected by equilibration time under certain temperature and humidity conditions. The optimal parameters of detection method were as follows 50 cigarette breakable capsules as sample size, equilibrating for 24 h at (22±1) ℃ and relative humidity (60±3)%, pre-pressure of 0. 01 N, compression rate of 10 mm·min-1, and the use of non porous sample table. Based on the universal material testing machine, the detection results of crushing strength and deformation amount of cigarette breakable capsules based on the optimal parameters is stable and accurate.
