    Cause Analysis on Cracking of Steel Wire after Drawing ER307Si Stainless Steel Wire Rod

    • Some steel wire cracked after drawing ER307Si stainless steel wire rod. The cracking causes of steel wire were analyzed by macroscopic observation, chemical composition analysis, metallographic examination and mechanical property test. The results show that the temperature control accuracy of wire rod in solution treatment was not up to standard, which resulted in poor solution effect and uneven hardness distribution of wire rod. The improper use of guide plate in rolling line resulted in scratches on wire rod. The surface scratches and uneven hardness distribution of wire rod were the main causes of steel wire cracking after drawing.
