Cause Analysis on Discoloration of Surface Paint of a Missile

    • The surface paint color of a missile changed. Through the simulation test, glossiness test and chemical components quantitative analysis, the reason of paint discoloration was analyzed. The results show that when the nitrile butadiene rubber pad used in the missile packaging box contacted with the missile paint under certain pressure, dibutyl phthalate and N-phenyl-1-naphthylamine were exuded from the rubber pad, which polluted the paint layer, and resulted in the paint layer discoloration and glossiness reduction; when the moisture content was increased, the pollution degree and glossiness of the sample decreased more, which showed that when the rubber contacted with the paint layer closely, water molecules in the rubber infiltrated the paint surface. After replacing the new silicone rubber pad, the paint layer was not polluted, and the glossiness of the paint layer basically remained unchanged.
