Cause Analysis on Fracture of Spring Linkage of a Constant Force Hanger

    • Spring linkage of constant force hanger between water storage tank and 361 valve drain pipe in a power plant fractured. The fracture causes of spring linkage were analyzed by means of strength calculation and finite element analysis. The influence of the clearance on static mechanical properties of kinematic pair of component under low speed movement condition was also discussed. The results show that insufficient strength was the main cause for the fracture of the spring linkage. Furthermore, the existence of the clearance between the kinematic pairs greatly reduced the bearing capacity of the component.
