Cause Analysis on Cracks of an S13Cr110 Steel Tubing in Well BZ102

  • Cracks appeared on an S13Cr110 steel tubing in well BZ102. The causes of cracks were analyzed by means of magnetic particle testing, metallographic analysis, pit analysis, chemical composition analysis and mechanical property test. The results show that the longitudinal cracks of the tubing was stress corrosion cracks. The formation of the cracks was related to the corrosive environment in annulus A, the material characteristics and the stress condition of the tubing.
