Abstract
The suspicious defects in titanium alloy materials were located by ultrasonic detection. The defects were analyzed by means of low magnification test, high magnification test and energy spectrum analysis of micro-area chemical composition. The results were compared with those of ultrasonic detection. The results show that the ultrasonic detection technology could effectively detected the inclusions, holes, superheat structure (local coarse, uneven structure) and other defects in the titanium alloy materials. However, the local chemical segregation defects found in the low magnification test could not be effectively detected by ultrasonic detection, and the abnormal internal structure will also affect the normal discrimination of ultrasonic detection.
