Fracture Failure Analysis of a Clamp Connector

    • The causes of fracture failure of a clamp connector were analyzed by means of macroscopic analysis, scanning electron microscopy and energy spectrum analysis, metallographic analysis, chemical composition analysis, mechanical property test and force analysis. The results show that the failure mode of the clamp connector was high temperature creep fracture. The main reason for the fracture was that the stress level of the connector under the assembly condition was high, and there was a large risk of high temperature creep fracture at the actual working temperature. It was recommended to select materials with good resistance to high temperature creep according to the actual working conditions.
